INTERVIEW WITH MCCALLAMAN

Mccallaman First thing's first, the introduction; who is McCallaman?

Well, I'm a 17 year old up and coming producer from Toronto that has a passion for creating good music. I first got into making beats when I was about 12. I would play the piano and ideas of drum patterns, strings, and other instruments would come into my head, but I did not know how to put it all together until I found a sick computer program called FL Studio! From then on, I never turned back.

How would you define your style?

I'd define it as being a bit unique. I like to produce Pop/R&B and Rap type of beats while incorporating a sort of 'spacey' element in my music. Be sure to look out for the Space Era mixtape! I like making music that evokes an emotion or some sort of response out of people, whether they're breaking their necks to a club banger or taking in a deep, or sad, type of song.

Who or what are your biggest influences, musically?

My biggest influence is definitely Michael Jackson. To me, he defines musical and performance perfection. Whenever I hear some of his records I just think, WOW! In terms of producers, I like a lot of them, but the main ones are DJ Hi-Tek, Quincy Jones, Timbaland, Dr. Dre, Nottz and Darkchild.

Who are some of the artists that you have worked with to date?

Some of the artists I have worked with and am working with now are Bishop Brigante, R-Tripz, Emerson Brooks, Mason Payne, Erik Flowchild, K-Flow, Cori Green, JmorE, T.Ana Cole and JDiggz.

What can we expect from you in the future?

You can expect to hear more of me and the Space Boiz (McCallaman + R-Tripz collaboration) really soon. Expect to hear good music.

Where can people hear your music?

Good question. People can go to www.myspace.com/gogobeats and www.reverbnation.com/mccallaman.

And be sure to check out my videos on Youtube (www.youtube.com/mccallaman1).

Anything else you would like to add?

Yes, for up and coming producers out there, stay humble!

McCallaman is here! Space Boiz are here! Noooiice!

And thank you.
