TRENCH
Toronto, the breeding ground of Canadian hip hop has spawned an MC unlike any other, his name: Canibus-T aka Trench.
This 22 year old lyrical wizard has created such a buzz on the streets of T.O. since his memorable voice has graced
the airways of CKLN's "Powermove Show," CHRY, CIUT & Energy 108 to name a few. What separates this cat from all the
rest, is his ability to project his refined lyrics into the mind of the listener. He is Trench - Tha Storyteller and
he's got something to say. Trench's debut on wax - "Catastrophic" the dirty b-side of labelmate Marz Apocalypse's
first single, gained him instant respect from the hip hop community and it doesn't stop there.
Trench's career has gotten off to a quick start from radio to retail and beyond. "Catastrophic" sold over 300 copies
in it's first 2 weeks. And that's just the vinyl. IllNoiz.com had Trench & co. for a lengthy interview and freestyle
session that had heads connecting from New Zealand, Amsterdam, Australia, Atlanta, Tennessee, and NYC. He was recently
featured in the "Emcee of the Minute" section in the July issus of POUND magazine alongside Talib Kweli and Kool G Rap.
Not bad for a kid outta Regent Park with no product or video. Currently in the studio with renowned producer SCAM,
Trench's debut single is set to be released in March 2001 on hot T.O. label Parkland Records.
How It All Started
The year is 1995 and Joe Trench (his real name) is determined to get his craft perfected and recognized. His highly
recognizable voice set the backdrop for a style yet to be duplicated by any emcee. "I've been listening and learning
from my peers including Gang Starr, Nas, AZ, Mobb Deep and all them Queensbridge cats." In high school Trench met up
Shirley Dynamo aka Marz Apocalypse and the pair have been spittin out the hardcore ever since. "I've always wanted to
start my own label or company and I can learn so much on my way up the industry ladder."
Trench will make his mark on the hip hop world and the world better be ready. This "no holds barred" emcee is hungry
as hell - and Toronto is the stepping stone to his global takeover. You've been warned.
