SLING DADZ
Born in Toronto, raised in Trethewey (chuch-a-way), a metro housing complex on the Infamous Jane Street (west end) of Toronto, Sling Dadz isn’t a stranger in the hip hop game. Originally born as Marlon Morgridge, "Slinga" became his other popular name because of his street credibility in the Trethewey Dr. housing community.
The year of 1993, Sling was approached by a promoter from his community who went by the name 2swift promotions. He had put Sling and members of his group known as tha Unda Dwelluz to perform at the Party Center downtown T.O. From there, Slingz recorded several tracks with the Dwelluz, until the manager felt he was holding back the others due to differences between the trio. At that time Sling Dadz ventured to do his solo career at age 16. In the streets daily, Slingz connected with several mc's with big reps on Jane St. as urban artist being down with the Dwelluz they built a movement with artists from Falstaff Ave. down to Emmett Ave(Alcatraz) to form M.O.D(Mindz of Darkness). The mid 90's M.O.D, was making noise in the underground scene in Toronto hip hop performing at El Mocambo, Lee's Palace, Chocolate City, etc. After years of grinding, putting in work some decided to part ways individually to start their own companies, Promotion, Management, and some just wasn't feeling that hunger or drive to do this for real.
In 2003 Sling dadz started to write again & hit the studio with certain generals / business partners form the urban Indie music label 'Street Code Entertainment. He later released two singles "I'm From Jane" & "The Re-Up" which was to controversy for commercial radio. Street Code Entertainment Canada., also does Artist Development, In house Production, etc.
May 2006 Street Rebel performed at Spice Bistro for Sporadic the dark poet EP release party. Sept 2006 Street Rebel released Street Rebel-Rebel or Die tha mixtape CD. In the end of 2007, Sling Dadz shot his first independent music video directed by Chris Strikes “I’m from Jane” in Toronto’s West-End on the Jane strip, (Northside-Southside).
In 2008 Sling Dadz has done several collabo on mixtapes for other artist in the city due to come out soon, or already out! Look out for Sling Dadz solo LP under Street Code Entertainment, Canada. Coming Soon……… "Stick II tha Street Code"
The I’m from Jane Remix will be the next single for 2009.
