RICHIE SOSA
Driven, determined, creative and ambitious are four words that could most definitely describe the unstoppable
force known as Richie Sosa. Born April 8, 1983, to a strong willed single mother of three. His mother fueled
the influence of struggle which is notably apparent within Sosas music. Sosa was raised in the humbling
atmosphere of a lower class neighborhood within the east end of Toronto. Sosas rough childhood forced him to
develop an unfathomable hunger for success. Drawing inspiration from New York legends Kool G Rap, big Daddy
Kane, and the late great big L, Richie Sosa decided his relation to the music went beyond being a fan and
decided to join the game. With the weight of the citys reputation on his shoulders, Sosa set out to takeover
the entertainment industry. One of Sosas main goals is to set and raise the bar of excellence within the
industry. Cocky as it may seem he prides himself on the consistency, and quality of his music. Another one of
Sosa's goals is to diversify himself as an artist and entertainer. Sosa recognizes the fact that it is
important for him to separate himself from the status quo of average Rappers. He is determined to change the
industry by what ever means possible. After four years in and out of police custody his calling for the music
proved to be stronger than his passion for disobeying the law. After years of honing his skills it wasnt long
before he connected with Toronto hip hop street legend Maddlox, the multi-talented Bobby Cox and super
producers Soundsmith Productions (producers of Fabolous, Young Jeezy, Bleu Da Vinchi, JR. Writer, SAS Dipsets
and more), a movement was soon formed.... This movement was known as MEGACITY'S FINEST. More of a statement
than a title, the name was in part coined after Torontos several surrounding districts that have long been
amalgamated into one big Megacity. Richie Sosa grew up on the south side of Scarborough in the city's east
end which as a result brought a different sound to The M-City camp, which consisted of only west end Rappers.
Diversifying himself from the rest of the city's up and coming artists, Sosa has made a name for himself as a
consistent representation of the city he was born and raised in. Rapping since the tender age of 14, Richie
Sosa has been pursuing his career professionally for the past two and a half years. Since his onset to stardom
he has appeared on numerous mixtapes, radio stations and DVDs. His first identifiable underground single "Sick
in the head" merited him well over a 300 spins through local college radio station, 89.5 FM PROJECT BOUNCE.
His first well know commercially accepted track to play on commercially owned radio station (FLOW 93.5 FM) was
"Best Friend" featuring M-LOXX. It was also featured on FLOW 935s URBAN FLOWCASE 6 CD (10, 000 UNITS). He has
since teamed up with numerous local artists around the city to make sure his voice is heard. The latest single
from Toronto bred RnB crooner Darryl Riley "Hot" featuring Richie Sosa has played over 400 times on commercial
radio station FLOW 93.5 FM (as well as made the Urban Flowcase 7 CD). At one point it attained the number one
spot on the top eight at eight countdown going up against a stiff competition of signed and established
artists. Hot also made FLOW 93.5s top 93 Songs of 2005 coming in as the 84th best song of the year. Sosa is
well known for his captivating live performances. He has played many concerts, most notably he has opened for
the likes of NE YO, JAGGED EDGE and 112. Richie Sosa has also been on many mixtapes across North America,
including: DJ RADIO/STREETSWEEPERS, DJ SOSA, DJ KRONIK, DJ PAPA SMIRF AND DJ LAW. Sosa has also been featured
on many DVDs including: RAPSHEET, SPIT, DAPPZ and JUICE DVD. With aspirations to break his city into a
worldwide market, Richie Sosa is on a mission to create a blueprint for the next generation to follow. He
believes that at the end of the day nothing is impossible and achieving unachievable goals is his forte.
Planning to do so by any means necessary, radio, TV, movies, fashion etc., the day will soon come when Sosa
and his M-CITY movement takeover completely, but until then he remains the most talented and ambitious artist
with out a deal.
