PMAC
PMAC, born Paul McNay, is an emcee and producer, that has been involved in music
his whole life. Influenced by such rappers as: Nas, Talib Kweli, Jay-Z, Wu-Tang
Clan, and Jedi Mind Tricks, PMAC found his voice and created his own style,
which is truly original.
Born in Toronto General
Hospital, PMAC started out in Mimico, and eventually lived in Clarkson,
Mississauga. When he turned 12, his family decided to move south of the border,
to Tampa Bay, Florida. Literally, every year after that, he moved back and forth
between Canada, and the U.S. This was a very trying time for him, and he turned
to music to vent his frustration and depression. Starting out with a guitar, he
played with many local punk rock bands since he was 13. Paul’s father was an
accomplished musician, who played with the likes of Rush, and Gerry and the
Pacemakers. Music was a big part in Paul’s growing up and
development.
When Paul turned 17, he and his mother were
living down in Tampa Florida. Having enough of the stress, Paul’s mother up and
left him all alone, as she moved back to Canada, and left him there by himself.
This was a big loss for him, and he relied on the music even more than before.
Having no food or money, Paul’s best friend from Toronto came to stay with him
for a couple of weeks. His name was Davis, and he was an emcee in the Toronto
scene. One night, they had a big party, a lot of people showed up, and a
freestyle cipher broke out. Davis was quick to jump in and freestyle in front of
the ignorant hecklers, saying that Canadians can’t rap, and they should just
stick with hockey. As soon as Davis started rhyming, he blew everyone away with
his style, and ability to diss anyone who tried to come at him. Paul was so
impressed, that he became obsessed with freestyling.
As the
years went by, Paul practiced his skills at school, at work, and in the solitude
of his home. He turned to the name PMAC, because that was his childhood
nickname, which is just short for his real name, as well as an acronym standing
for: Passion for Music, Arts and Culture. After joining many local hip hop
groups between America and Canada, and performing at numerous shows, PMAC
started getting recognition for his intricate rhymes, his laid back style, and
his energetic shows.
Cut from a different mold, this emcee is
the everyman’s rapper, because people say that they can relate to what he says.
He does not talk about gang-banging. He does not talk about bling-bling, nor how
much cash he’s got. Instead he talks about how broke he is, and how he feels the
world needs to be corrected. After a couple albums, and one brand new album on
the way, PMAC is on his way to becoming one of T.O’s best. Be on the
lookout.
New album coming out summer 2008 – “The Extinction
Agenda” produced by The Arpium.
