NABOB aka STARBUXXX

Nabob/Starbuxxx Brian Barksdale is poised to become the most important businessman in the history of rap music in Canada.

"I sold several thousand, without a deal - don't know how to chill, my grind is that real!" Nabob 2006 Freestyle

Simply said but true, without major label support, Nabob moves more units than many major label artists in Canada.

NABOB a/k/a STARBUXXX, a/k/a Brian Barksdale, was born and raised in Scarborough, the heart of hip hop culture in Toronto. Growing up during the golden era of hip-hop, his musical influences include the likes of Run DMC, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Notorious B.I.G, and Jay-Z. However, being born to Ghanaian (West African) parents, his musical influences expand beyond the mentioned rap artists. Having been in the rap scene since 2003, this truly multi-dimensional artist doesnt plan on simply being labeled as an emcee. Nabobs talents extend beyond his emcee skills, he has also taken on the entrepreneurial role. This 25-year-old enterpriser also wears the hat of the Young C.E.O. as Chief Executive Officer of Barksdale Entertainment & Promotional Services, the parent company of Onslaught Worldwide Entertainment Group and Onslaught Records.

When he isnt calling shots, he is holding it down on the mic and doing what he does best. His first claim to stardom came about when Nabob was featured on the remix of R&B heartthrob Jaheims Anything, receiving major radio airplay. At the time, this unprecedented approach got his foot in the door and gained him industry recognition. This led to regular spins on Torontos biggest urban-based radio stations, Flow 93.5 and the former KISS 92.5 FM. He was eventually commissioned to be on the 2004 remixes for Keisha Chantes singles Does He Love Me and Bad Boy released by BMG Canada.

With a long list of remixes and mixtapes under his belt (over 30 remixes and 20, 000 units to date), he might as well be called Canadas Remix King.

With the release of his third solo mixtape, Certified Grind, Nabob has also managed to release the video for his second single Gotta Luv It which is currently being serviced to radio and video outlets worldwide. Additionally, Certified Grind is an enhanced cd including the video for Gotta Luv It and other bonus features.

Not slowing down for even a minute, Nabob is also scheduled to release his highly anticipated debut album, which is set to be released in the forth quarter of 2006.

With his steady grind, there is no option but success. Nabob, you Gotta Luv It.
