MARZ APOCALYPSE

Marz Apocalypse Websters Dictionary defines Marz as: "The God Of War." What war you ask? The battle to end the reign of all fake MCs. Sure, same ol' story it seems, but in reality today's hip hop scene is saturated with stereotypical, conformist, corporate bullshit. Real hip hop comes from the street where there are no mansions, cars and cristal. Enter Marz Apocalypse from the BLOODSTAIN CAMPAIGN, a clique outta the notorious Regent Park housing projects in downtown Toronto. This 23 year old "spittin machine" has already created a buzz on the street since Marz and crew got into a cipher with ODB at Wu's first T.O. appearance, to an invasion of the infamous Powermove Show on CKLN for an impressive freestyle throwdown. Marz and co. have a lot to say and there ain't no holdin back. His debut EP "The Anti-Rap Star" which is due out this spring on Parkland Records is just the beginning, his partner in rhyme Trench, along with labelmate Taboo (18 year old female MC) all contribute to the project, showcasing the cliques skills.

The first joint that dropped was the underground track "Thy Dark Tower" b/w the slammin b-side "Catastrophic" featuring Trench. This introduction to the world of Marz was produced by Scam (Maestro, Thrust, Concrete Mob) and already has the follow-up video in the works. The song "Catastrophic" was recently featured on CBC's "Drop The Beat" and also secured Marz an opening slot this past summer with Mos Def and Jill Scott at the CNE Bandshell.

On the street Marz draws from his alter-ego "Shirley Dynamo," a street wise hustla on the move. Heads in T.O. all know of Shirley from his legendary MC battles, to a feature in The Source which almost separates the two characters. "I started back in '95 beat-boxin and shit, hangin with my crew." When asked, he cites his influences as "old Wu-Tang, Redman, Biggie, Onyx, and most importantly Chuck D and Public Enemy." And it shows. His fierce and sharp lyrics tell of a harsh reality existing in T.O. with a dose of some New World Order hype to keep ya in line. 008 (as he's also known) is going to indeed change the face of hip hop, with a lyrical fury that will intrigue the mind and conscience, to better understand some of the real issues that we tend to overlook.

After all is said and done, Marz Apocalypse has taken his skills to the next level. Armed with a pen and pad, this new breed of MC is about to show the world how we do in tha T-Dot.
