IVY aka KARMA
When it comes to street but sweet the first name that comes up in the underground is Yazmine. With her soulful voice,
unique versatile sense of style and her poisonous flow, Yazmine has brought back the real hip-hop vibe to the streets.
Born and raised in the heart of downtown Toronto, she is no stranger to the everyday struggle. As a young girl, Yazmine
went into acting but a nearly fatal accident had an ironic twist into her career. After years of therapy Yazmine slowly
recovered. Not planning to place her back into acting again, her parents hadnt realized the amount of talent she had.
She was then introduced to hip-hop from her uncle that was a dj. At a young age he would take her to events that he was
playing at. While growing up to the sounds of Biggie, Total, Mary J Blige, Fugees, and 2 Pac, it has influenced her to
start writing songs. This gave her the started to do talent show around the neighborhood and even the Elephant show
concert to name a few. Young Yazmine preformed in almost all the talent shows in and around the community but all that
had came to a halt when she got to the age of 14 due to had parents broke up. Times were harder, since her parent's
divorced. Her mother couldnt provide for her, but she still tried her best. Living in a fatherless home through her
teens she took that pain and wrote. There was not a day that had passed that she wouldnt write. Times didnt seem to get
easier but she express herself through writing and music. So in early March 2004, She was discovered by Life Records as
an artist known as Ivy. Since then Yazmine she has featured on mixtapes, concerts, started her own clothing line named
Yazmine and the list continues. This phenomenon is hitting the industry hard, giving little girls in every hood a real
role model for personal success.
