IDREES MAJEED

Idrees Majeed Idrees' upbringing is your typical hip hop artist’s story. He is a visible minority outcast who grew up in a single parent home. His mother was absent the majority of his life and Idrees grew up living between cities with his father. After years of trails, defeats and downfalls, Idrees has turned the grief of his unprofitable lifestyle into a successful career.

Born September 9, 1986, Idrees spent most of his early years living city to city with his father before settling in North Bay, ON. By age 13, Idrees was 6'2", had sprouted facial hair and started rapping. For influence, Idrees refers to his surroundings and touches on a number of day-to-day subjects. After distributing solo albums and mixtapes, Idrees began to catch the ears of a legion of underground fans. The most notable of such are those who claim they never step foot in the hip hop section of their local music retail store. Fans admire Idrees unique blend of sample based hip hop mixed with blues, classic rock and various other music styling. Rather than criticize, they have embraced him. Equipped with a raspy- baritone voice and a legion of underground fans, Idrees plans to make his mark in Canada and then internationally.

Regardless of race, sex or ethnicity, we all relate to the stories, struggles, triumphs and defeats that hip hop presents us with. Rather than criticize, we should embrace it.
