G-RIDE

Dean James Foroglou aka G-Ride It all started with a pen and a pad back in 1998 when I wrote my first rap song. From there it became an addiction, something I was doing all the time.

I've been an avid listener of hip-hop since the age of 13. I have an extensive album collection with every style imaginable included. Old school, southern, bass, gangsta, contemporary, underground; you name your style of preference, I probabl have it. My library of hip-hop albums is very diverse as is my taste in music overall. Although hip-hop maybe my favourite choice of music, I enjoy many other genres including classical, R&B, dance and Latin. Everything has a chance with me, as long as it satisfies my ears.

I started writing rap lyrics almost 3 years ago. Since simply being a fan wasn't enough for me, I wanted to do something more and show the world that I could make a valid contribution to the hip-hop community. My first few songs unfortunately were poorly written with little or no effort put into them. I recited them to several people and received a lot of negative feedback which greatly discouraged me. It took me nearly a year to formulate lyrics that were acceptable and to learn the art of story telling but with persistence, I prevailed. From there I wrote song after song and had close to 25 by the time I realized, I should investigate taking these lyrics to the next level. In the summer of 2000, I purchased a computer program that aided me in creating the appropriate sound to complement my songs. From there, I spent hours on my computer putting together beats, melodies and bass lines (with no prior musical experience) and in a matter of 3 months, I had produced and recorded 14 tracks for an untitled album.

I put all my songs on a CD and began distributing it to friends to see what kind of reaction I would get. To my surprise, no one could guess that it was me on the CD, they assumed it was some underground rapper from Toronto. Everyone was impressed to say the least. In fact, out of the hundreds of people who have now heard my music, only half a dozen have told me that they didn't like it. From there, I took it even a step further and started putting my tracks out on the Internet to see what kind of responses I would get. People from Sweden to Brazil to the southern United States began downloading my album off a web server I set up from home, some asking where they could purchase a copy of the album. Many also encouraged me to take my works to a record company for a professional evaluation which is where I stand now.

I am currently working on all new material for another upcoming album with a whole different twist to it as I felt that much of my lyrical content was dated and did not represent my current views.

My works can be found online @ www.gride.cjb.net & www.mp3.com/scronx_records.

My goal is to sign a recording contract with a label as I feel that I am very marketable in hip-hop music, based on the reviews that I have already received. I also realize that I have a lot to learn in the "game of hip-hop" and I humbly accept the task at hand.
