GOLD SPADE
Gold Spade, Gold being the
complexion of this Canadian up and coming rapper. Spade representing his ethnic
background. Which fittingly suits his tendency to mix humour with witty
simplicity balancing clever wordplay with easily understood messages. But to
really describe Gold Spade's new strand of this young artform, we need simply to
take a brief look at his musical background, style and his lyrical content.
At only 23 years of age, Spade comes to the table with years of music
knowlegde and experience. Spade's mother being a former writer, songwriter and
poet, he grew up with a sound knowledge of lyrical content. His uncle a part of
a very popular reggae band in Jamaica(The Paragons) and cousins and family
friends involved in various forms of black music set the foundation for a career
in producing nurtured by his surroundings.This obviousliy helped form a great
sense of what qualities were needed for the high standards of the music he
creates.
 Gold spade's youth was also deeply entrenched in music through school choir
practices and recitals, enhancing his ear for music even further. He also gained
thorough knowledge of music structure through piano and keyboarding classes,
which is quite evident throughout recordings produced by Spade. As a result of
older family members involment in the rap industry, Spade gained interest at a
very young age, and wrote his first verse at the age of 9. His first
performances brought about a confident stage presence, and the ability to
involve the audience in his stage shows.
Battling on a regular basis gave Spade the inspiration to paramount his
talents, allowing him to stand out in the crowd of laclusture rappers. Using all
his spare time encompassed in music, Gold Spade has released his debut album,
"Buy My Album". With this current release he promises to not only step forth as
a breath of fresh air, but a refreshing new gust of wind, and you do not need to
be long winded to take it all in.
