DENIM

Denim Canadian born Conridge Blackwood seemed to be on the verge of taking basketball seriously, making it big. Throughout his childhood years he’s been dedicated to the sport, peers and family members realized his talent and always encouraged him to make the best use of it.

As time took its toll, he began to realize his interest in basketball was fading away rapidly and a new goal was in the making. Music has always been something that surrounded him; growing up in a Jamaican household he was always surrounded by good music, whether he was cleaning the house, riding on the bus, riding in the car or walking the streets he always had to have it. It wasn’t until the age of 12 he picked up a pen and started to write. I remember it just like yesterday he says, I’ve always been a competitor, and failure isn’t an option. Being influenced by Artist such as DMX, Jadakiss, Jay-Z, Biggie and Nas gave him a variety of styles which helped him create his own: a loose, rugged type flow that lead him to the name Denim a.k.a. Loose Denim.

He continued to master his craft by appearing on mixtapes, doing live shows and staying on the grind which lead him to eventually connect with a group of young up and coming producers known as Da Arsenals. It’s with these producers that he finally got a chance to work on original material and express himself outside of the mixtape world.

This was a stepping stone for Denim who used the opportunity to record numerous amounts of songs for his first yet to be released LP.
