D-SISIVE
Refusing to act without thinking when in
decision, allows one to be firm and unrelentless. Hence the name D-Sisive.
His intentions are clear: Provide Hip Hop with an alternativeroute to the watered down "Hip Pop"
that is so prevalent, while still producing music that is accepted by the masses. Main ingredient
being: The true essence of Hip Hop. No gunslinging, no drug promoting, just straight positive
lyrics.
Having his roots deeply implanted in Hip Hop since he was young, D-Sisive's natural writing
ability and love of Hip Hop music lead him to writing rhymes, and penning songs at the tender age
of 11. As he progressed, he eventually began to study the art of emceeing, but some motivation
was lost since he would constantly be critiqued about his age, and skin colour. By looking past
his flaws, he held nothing back and at the age of 16, dove head first into an industry full of
opportunities just waiting to happen. "You can't sit around and let things happen. You have to
make things happen." By following his personal formula, D-Sisive has achieved nothing but
positive accomplishments. He started his own independent record label 4th Eye-Q Productionz',
and released his debut EP titled "J.A.C. (Joan Anne Christoff)", dedicated to his mother whom
passed away, in June of '97. He created music for a CBC Television Documentary "My Native Self",
and also pennedsongs for an upcoming NBC TV Movie of the Week. Also, he is featured on the
upcoming Orin Isaacs album "Where I'm From" alongside the likes of Kardinal Offishall, Black
Katt, Kaybe, etc...
To start 1999 off with a bang, D-Sisive's first video "Lost Sight (Remix)" aired on Much Music
in early January and has been on rotation ever since.
Looking back in retrospect, D-Sisive laughs at all of the stereotypes he faced as a child. "I've
learned that it's not what you look like on the outside, but it's the talents you have inside
that will bring you to the top. Therefore, I'm going to keep using my talents as an aid to keep
climbing towards the plateau that everyone dreams to seek."
Having mastered the skills of a true emcee, and grasping the business perspective of the industry
by the young age of 18, places D-Sisive at the forefront of the next wave of Canadian emcees to
emerge from Toronto's underground. There is no decision to realize when a person has talent. This
is a fact.
D-Sisive's debut album, It Was The Best Of Times, It Was The Worst Of Times, is due out in the
year 2000.
