CHILLAZ
Toronto native Chillaz was raised in the Chester Le Housing Community, a
neighbourhood notorious for being one of the most crime ridden areas in
Scarborough. Chillaz can't remember a time he did not love rap, as a child
he would often rap and sing around the neighbourhood. It wasn't until he
began to experience harsh life changes including arrests and expulsions that
he decided to devote himself to his music. His flow and lyrical ability was
exactly what local rap group "Royalty Squad" was looking for, a one time
audition was all they needed to add him to their roster. Even though he has
only being on the Toronto rap scene for a short time Chillaz has gained the
respect from his rap peers and he hopes to collaborate with several Toronto
rappers to contribute as positively as he can to the growing Toronto rap
scene. He best describes it in his own words, "Growing up where I'm from, I
was exposed to the game at a young age. Shootings, guns, drugs, you name it.
I've seen it all around here. I seen people come and go, everything. I'm
destined to make a name for myself before I go". Now in the finishing
process of creating his first solo mixtape: Fuck What You Heard Volume 1,
Chillaz hopes to make a name for himself and his neighbourhood.
