CAPEECH

Capeech Born in Toronto, Canada’s west end neighbourhood, Rexdale, gave rapper Capeech character and insight. The harsh realities of street life exposed him to gangs, drugs and guns at an early age. Watching his childhood friends lose their lives at hands of street violence reaffirmed that he needed to make a change. That change came in the form of heavy bass lines matrimonially paired with lyrics that make listeners overstand his pragmatic way of thinking; an understanding that manifests in audiences standing up, nodding their heads and paying attention.

He began writing rhymes as a hobby and decided to seriously pursue a career in hip hop after another friend was tragically gunned down in their Rexdale neighbourhood. Capeech committed to a meteoric lifestyle change and made music his focus. He began recording and performing his material to local audiences, most recently at 2009’s Manifesto urban music festival.

Still on his musical grind, Capeech has had success on Toronto airwaves; reaching number one on college radio mix shows and has had air play on commercial radio as well. His music is injecting the life back into hip hop one song at a time. His style has been categorized as “Knapsack Hip Hop”, but he’s quick to tell you his introspective narratives are just reflections of the life he lead and now observes.

Capeech plans to keep the creativity moving with new projects in the works on his label, Negro Music.
