BUMMY CHUCKLES
It is a Bummy life indeed, and emcee/artist extroardanaire Big Mogs, or what others have come to know as Bummy Chuckles
is no stranger to it. Emerging from the undiscovered parts of the Toronto, Mogul paints himself and the things he sees
vividly. Bummy got various early musical inspirations at a young age and was exposed to music of all genres. He
embraced hip hop by writing poetry and trying to do what his inspirations did.
A b-boy from the start, Bummy glued himself to the speakers, taping every radio show, catching all the latest tunes from
his competitors. Reviewing other rappers' styles and delivery patterns. Sciencing all that he could he began writing and
quickly learned that he too could excercise his wordplay and express himself just like his heroes, who at that time was
captured on audio cassette tapes.
Growing up in the rough areas of West-end Toronto and Mississauga, Bummy has been through excrutiating hardships and has
had a turbulent career in entertainment. This created a concious Mogul who rapped about his position in the world and
all the social issues surrounding him. He was denied Video grants, airplay and some publications but has managed to keep
level headed. He has had spin on all of the community radio stations and even had one of his songs aired on Flow 93.5 FM,
but was soon to learn that this was not enough in Toronto. With disappointments and failures bringing him back to the
drawing boards Mogul decided that if he is to make it in music he will have to master his own destiny and own the means
to his production. Putting all of his monies behind his music Bummy and good friend Confucious collectively purchased
their equipment and forged Trouble Maka Studios in 2002.
The summer of 2006 marked an excellent year for the TroubleMakaz with the launch of their thought provoking, behind the
scenes DVD documentary called RIBS IZ TOUCHIN. The documentary looks into the lifestyles and issues facing struggling
Toronto artists, and producers. It forces people of Toronto who have often ignored the local artists trying to make
their mark on the city, to face the artists and understand their issues with the city itself. RIBS IZ TOUCHIN placed
Mogs in a select position to work with some Toronto's icon emcees.
Two mixtapes, an album and a DVD later Mogul enters 2007 with an enlightened mentality towards his music. Will this
artist become just another swallowed soul in the confines of a non appreciative atmosphere of the Canadian music
industry or is he destined for greatness? Well with the new ability to now create his projects and release
independantly we shall all see. Enter the mind and world of Bummy CHuCkLes.
