ATLAS

ATLAS DA AFRICAN: Born in Africa, Atlas and his family fled the continent due to extreme war that had erupted in his home country Uganda in eastern Africa. His father stayed and went to war against the government in order to bring freedom to the people that were being oppressed by the president at that time. Tragically his Father died in the war against Idi Amen Dada and Atlas was left fatherless at a very young age. My story needs to be heard, "I rap for the kids that the world turned there back on, the ones that are still starving and living in poverty back home in Africa, There story will be told through my music because we have the same story, they relate to me". While in North America Atlas grew up listening to Hip Hop and was influenced by famous rappers in the late 80s early 90s such as Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Gang Starr, NWA, Kool G Rap, EPMD and Run DMC. "Being a refugee I understood what it was like to struggle and Hip Hop music was the closest thing I could relate too". Atlas started rapping when he was ten years old and had the skills to open up for Run DMC, Will Smith, Redman, Black Moon, ICE-T and LL cool J all before the age of 16. I have done a lot of shows but meeting Run DMC at such an early age was a blessing for me, "to speak to Jam Master Jay was one of my most inspiring moments" . More recently Atlas got props from Jay-Z during Caribanna weekend in Toronto Canada when Jay-Z was getting interviewed on Much Music in front of a live audience. "That moment was crazy when he acknowledged me in the crowd and said he wanna help and mentor up and coming artists like myself, when I left the studio audience I had 52 messages on my cell phone from managers and people interested in working with me, If he sign me to the Roc or Def Jam that would be a dream come true, if not I still appreciate Jay-Z saying what he said because it has opened a lot of other doors for me". More recent concerts Atlas has opened up for are; Joe Buddens, Juelz Santanna, Royce the 5'9, and G-UNIT. Just last summer Atlas appeared on Much Music after winning a nation wide freestyle competition to open up for fabolous which held over 200 participants. The thing I find funny about winning battles is that I am not even a freestyle rapper, most of the time you can catch me putting together good songs with tight hooks and a chorus, if you cant do that then you will not sell records. With his talent and understanding of the industry it is no doubt that Atlas will be a household name, only question now is which Record Label will invest in his talents?
